About

Cristal Literacy Learning Centre CLLC provides individual literacy intervention for children who have been diagnosed with a Specific Learning Disorder in Reading and Writing (formerly known as Dyslexia) and for children, who do not have a diagnosis, who are struggling to learn to read and write. Children who fall into the latter category are referred to as ‘instructional casualties’.

Meet Cristal

I was recently a Primary School Teacher for 10 years. I founded CLLC after struggling to answer the question, “Why do some children learn to read while others do not?”. When two children in my class were diagnosed with a Specific Learning Disorder in Reading and Writing (Dyslexia), I learnt what constitutes Dyslexia and how to use different decodable books to address their needs. After that, I commenced training in Multisensory Structured Language Education (IMSLE) and am a member of the Australian Dyslexia Association (ADA). I am also a member of Learning Difficulties Australia (LDA), trained in Sounds Write, and passionate about using my expertise to help children to learn to read and write.

I am a learner for life and will continue educating myself on Reading and Writing best practices.
